Lady Saints Basketball Opens Region Play Ranked #9 Nationally

The Randall University Lady Saints entered Southwest Region play with national attention already building—earning the No. 9 ranking in the first NCCAA DII Coaches Poll of the season. The team immediately faced one of the toughest tests in the country, taking on #2 Champion Christian College in the region opener. Despite a competitive effort, the Saints fell 85–69.

Randall quickly responded with a dominant 69–52 win over Southwestern Adventist University, powered by big scoring nights from Alex Collins (25 points) and Chrissa Gomez (15 points). The Lady Saints matched that energy two days later in a gritty 62–59 win over College of Biblical Studies–Houston, where Tristyn Kirkes erupted for 22 points, and Collins posted an impressive 21-point, 11-rebound double-double.

Over the three-game stretch, Alex Collins, Tristyn Kirkes, Nailiyah McLaurin, and Chrissa Gomez emerged as the Saints' primary engines, combining for nearly 55 points per game while providing consistent interior and perimeter production.

Their stats from the beginning of region play can be seen below:

Alex Collins:

  • 21.0 points per game
  • 7.0 rebounds per game
  • 3.0 assists per game
  • 1.3 steals per game

Collins was the most consistent offensive presence all week, highlighted by a 25-point outing vs Southwestern Adventist and an 21-point double-double vs CBS.

Tristyn Kirkes:

  • 15.0 points per game
  • 5.3 rebounds per game
  • 0.7 assists per game
  • 1.7 steals per game

Kirkes' shooting was huge—averaging 2.7 made threes per game and hitting 3+ threes in two straight wins. Her 22-point performance against CBS was her best of the week.

Nailiyah McLaurin:

  • 10.3 points per game
  • 5.3 rebounds per game

McLaurin quietly posted efficient scoring all week, including a 20-point game against #2 CCC and a 10-point, 6-rebound outing in the win over CBS.

Chrissa Gomez:

  • 8.3 points per game
  • 5.0 rebounds per game
  • 3.0 assists per game

Gomez contributed all around—shooting well from three this week and serving as an elite playmaker, playing her role as the point guard.

With national recognition already secured and strong region results to open December, the Lady Saints look poised to climb even higher in the rankings as conference play continues.
