Baseball Opens Conference Play with Doubleheader Sweep Over Calvary

Randall University opened conference play in strong fashion on Saturday, sweeping Calvary University in a doubleheader at home and extending their winning streak to four games.

Game 1 – Randall Sets the Tone Early

The Saints came out aggressive in the opener, using timely hitting and strong pitching to secure the first win of the day. Randall's offense was sparked by several key extra-base hits, including doubles from Jett Millsap and Jason Carrell and a triple from Carson Creek that helped push runs across early.

On the mound, Alex Bustamante earned the win after a solid start, keeping Calvary in check through the early innings. Landon Riggs came in to finish the game and secure the victory for the Saints.

Randall's lineup continued to pressure Calvary throughout the game, combining clutch hits and aggressive baserunning to build a comfortable lead and take the opener.

Game 2 – Saints Complete the Sweep

Randall carried that momentum into the second game, defeating Calvary 6–3 to complete the sweep. The Saints once again relied on key offensive performances and strong pitching to close out the day.

Jett Millsap delivered one of the biggest moments of the game with a home run while also driving in multiple runs. David Neece led the offense with multiple hits and an RBI, while Katon Jimenez added a key hit that drove in two runs. Jason Carrell and Gage Mullins each contributed doubles as the Saints continued to find extra bases.

On the mound, Jackson Fixico provided a strong start, working into the middle innings and keeping Calvary's offense quiet. Jared Herndon came on in relief to finish the game and secure the sweep.

The Saints combined timely hitting, strong pitching, and solid defense across both games to start conference play on the right foot.

This sweep extends Randall's winning streak to four games. The Saints have now completed four of their seven-game homestand and will face Calvary University again on Sunday at 1 PM. Following that series finale, Randall will host an in-state rival in Southwestern Christian University for a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday, March 10th.
